Busy week ahead in Cougar Sports! Junior High teams begin their league tournaments on Friday. Cougar Baseball will finish out their week getting to play at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. Track has its last meet of the season before Districts.

Today's #CougarSeniorSpotlight shoutout goes to soon-to-be-graduate, Jamilyn Duty.
As a student at ICHS, Jamilyn has been involved in Cougar Choir, art, and BETA. After graduation, Jamilyn plans to attend college at Lyon College.
When asked about her most impactful teacher, Jamilyn said, "Out of all the teachers I’ve had, Mrs. Phillips has had the biggest impact on me. Since I've had her. She’s helped me through a lot whether she knows it or not. She’s someone you can talk to about anything and don’t have to worry about being judged. She genuinely cares about her students."
Jamilyn, we hope your next chapter is filled with great joy and much happiness! Thank you for the work you've put in as a student here... you'll definitely be missed!


We move the #Cougar SeniorSpotlight to Class of 2025 graduate, Rico Cruz!
Rico has been a part of the Cougars' football team at ICHS. After graduation, he plans to begin college to find a career that he loves. He says that his favorite memory has been winning a state championship in football. Mrs. Faulkner has had the greatest impact on Rico's life while being a student here. He said, "She has impacted me the most because she is very passionate about teaching and is good at it."
Rico, you'll be missed at ICHS! You've been an excellent student and a great example for others. Thanks for all of the hard work that you've put in over the years... we wish you all the best in your next journey!


Congratulations to upcoming graduate, Christopher Ryan Densford!
Chris has been involved in Quiz Bowl, eSports, BETA, and the Cougar Band. After graduation, he plans to attend Arkansas State University to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. Chris says that Mr. Phillips has had the most impact on him throughout his time at Izard County High School by believing in him and in his ability to play the saxophone.
Chris, we know that you'll be successful in your next chapter of life! We'll miss your musical talents and wealth of random knowledge as well as your kind spirit. Thanks for being a great student and an even better kid. Best wishes!

Sr. High Quiz Bowl places 3rd in the AGQBA 2A State Tournament held at Murfreesboro. Posting a 5-1 record on the day, the Cougars had wins over Corning, Caddo Hills, Ozark Catholic, South Side Bee Branch, and East Poinsett County, advancing to the semi-finals where they lost a close match with Haas Hall Rogers.
Senior Carson Mahan was named as an All State Tournament selection. Juniors Harrison Oss and Matthew Thielemier, as well as Freshman Evan Cole, provided multiple toss ups in each game, while Chris Densford, Alex Millington, Brayden Pruitt, and Allie Hatman all played pivotal roles in helping the Cougars make their run to the Final Four.
Congratulations on capping a fantastic season with a solid finish at the State Tournament!



The #CougarSeniorSpotlight moves to upcoming graduate, Porter Dean Burton!
Porter has been involved in many things as a student at ICHS. He's part of the Cougar baseball, basketball, and football teams. He's also active members in both CHASE and Student Council. His favorite memory was definitely winning a state championship in football. Porter says he's had many impactful teachers over the years, but one stands out among the rest: Mrs. Rachel Faulkner. He said, "Mrs Faulkner has made the biggest impact on my life. She’s done everything possible to try and make me a better student, and she's a great teacher."
After graduation, Porter plans to begin college at Arkansas State University to pursue a degree in Physical Therapist.
Porter, we're going to miss you! Your work ethic and your passion for the sports you play, as well as your ability to persevere. are admirable. Thanks for setting the bar high for those who will follow in your footsteps! We look forward to continuing to cheer you on in your next journey!


The Izard County Lady Cougars defeated the Cotter Varsity Warriors 5-1 on Friday at Cotter to improve to 10-5 on the year. .
Megan McBride led the charge with a dominant pitching performance, striking out 12 batters. She allowed one run across seven innings while issuing just one walk.
The Lady Cougars took control in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Hollie Johnson delivered a clutch single that brought in two runs. Kallie Skidmore added to the lead with a groundout that scored another run. Johnson had a strong day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Reese Johnson, Willa Everett, Layla Penland, and Skidmore each added one hit. McBride showed patience at the plate, drawing three of the team’s nine walks. Hollie Johnson and Makensie Yancey also contributed on the basepaths, each stealing multiple bases.


Xander McCandlis' Big Day Propels IC Past Salem!
Xander McCandlis collected four hits in four at bats as the Cougars defeated Salem 6-5 on Friday. McCandlis doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
IC got on the board in the top of the first after Porter Burton hit a sac fly, and Tyler Morehead walked, each scoring one run. The Cougars added to their early lead in teh top of the third after scoring on both a passed ball and on an error.
Burton earned the win for the Cougars. The starter allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking five. Tyler Morehead collected the save.
Burton, Noah Mosley, and McCandlis each drove in one run for the Cougars.
Way to go, guys!

Each year, teachers and staff are given the opportunity to nominate 9th and 12th grade students for Mr. and Miss ICC. Nominees have proven themselves inside and outside of the classroom. They're often at the top of their class for academics, very involved in extracurriculars, and have a great attitude about life. This year's recipients for senior high are Megan McBride and Cash Arnhart. The junior high recognition goes to Grace Gilbert and Keylon Gross. Congratulations to all of you!

As a student at ICHS, Brayden has been a part of the Quiz Bowl, Chess, and eSports teams. He's also a very importance piece of the EAST program and the host of this year's new EAST podcast, The Cougar Roar: EASTentials.
Brayden said that most impactful teacher has been Mr. Phillips. He said, "He is very influential in my music education and is a great esports coach."
Brayden, we'll miss your creativity and your unique approach to life! Your leadership has been invaluable. You've been a great example for others, and we appreciate you! Best wishes in your next chapter!

Our Diamond Cougars are getting a really neat experience next Saturday... they get to play a game at Arvest Ballpark - home of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals - in Springdale! Admission to the game will be free, but concessions from the park will not be available. You may bring food/drink into the ballpark for that day. Plan on making the trip to experience this event with our team!
