Today, we honored our retirees! Chad Arnhart is retiring with 30 years of service, two in our school district. John Walker has 19 years in the district and 39 years total. Tony Booth has 16 in district and 29 total. Don Simmons is retiring with 39 years of service, one year in our district. Congratulations to all of the retirees!
We also celebrated Brittany Baird, who is leaving our school district to pursue a career opportunity outside of education.
We appreciate her 8 years of dedicated service!

Due to Acorn's graduation, the Lady Cougars' first round STATE game has been moved up to 10am on Thursday! This game will be played at Forrest City.
The IC Freshman Class (2028) had a fantastic day holding a car-wash fundraiser. The kids worked hard today, and our community came out and supported them generously. We would like thank several people for their assistance today: Deana Taylor and Karen McKnight with FNBC for allowing us to use their Horseshoe Bend location; Marty McKnight for setting us up with hoses, buckets, and the works; and the host of parents who brought their students, provided water/snacks, and even helped us wash a few vehicles. Thank you again for supporting our Cougars!

The Cougar Athletic Awards Banquet is set for Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00. In addition to the awards this year, we'll be having a live auction full of homemade desserts to help raise money for the Seniors Lady Cougars' State Championship rings! Bring a little extra money and come hungry!... There will be something for everyone!

Today was a big day for some of our 9th grade Survey of Business students! Michelle Wallis, Jacob Smallwood, Gavin Satterwaite, Alex Millington, Gage Nielsen, and Grace Freeman all passed their final Microsoft Office certification exam, promoting them to Microsoft Office Specialist Associates! They are officially proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
We would also like to congratulate Jax Hood and Naomi Wisecarver for earning the Microsoft PowerPoint certification, as well as Reese Johnson (not pictured) for passing the Microsoft Word certification exam!
Students currently in grades 8-11 may now enter their schedule requests for next school year in HAC, under the courses tab. If you need any help, please stop by Mrs. Kensey's office.

Big news from Cougar Baseball tonight! Our very own Cash Arnhart has committed to continue his athletic and academic careers at Lyon College!
Cash has been a standout baseball player for most of his life; this year, however, his season has especially been one to remember. He's hitting an impressive.492 at the plate in 65 at-bats and broke Izard County's single season home run record with #9. He's amassed 32 hits, 19 walks, and only 9 strikeouts. Cash has batted in 34 baserunners and scored 39 runs for the Cougars this season. As a shortstop and center fielder, his fielding percentage is .962. He's faced 192 batters on the mound and earned 52 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.2.
Cash has had a great season, and we are so excited to hear that he's chosen to continue playing this game that he loves so much!

We are excited to announce Maison Hudgeons as the new head soccer coach and assistant football coach for the Cougars! He will also teach computer science.
Coach Hudgeons has nearly a decade of coaching experience in soccer, football, track, and softball at Cedar Ridge, Gurdon, and Hooks, Texas. He brings a passion for student growth, team culture, and building competitive programs from the ground up.
Coach Hudgeons was named Conference Soccer Coach of the Year at Gurdon in 2019 and he has also made a major impact on the football field—helping lead Cedar Ridge to its first playoff appearance in four years in 2021 and coaching a team that swept all 3A opponents in a highly competitive 3A/4A conference during the 2022 Arkansas 8-Man Football season, leading to their first non-losing season in five years.
Outside of school, Coach Hudgeons is a devoted husband and proud father of three—two boys and a girl. He values family, faith, and community, and is excited to help launch a strong, lasting soccer tradition here in Cougar Country!
