David Williams, 2024 ICC Senior, graduated Cum Laude from Ozarka College on December 8, 2023. David received his associates degree in general education as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the prestigious international honor society for two-year colleges. Congratulations, David!


The Junior Cougars defeated the White County Central Bears, 46-30, to advance to the finals of the 2A-2 District Tournament. The Junior Cougars (17-5) were led by Kade Yancey with 18 points. Benaiah Spray added 11 points, Braxton McCandlis 7, Kyler Brashear 6, and Aaron Dockins 4. The Junior Cougars are making their fourth consecutive trip to the district finals. The Junior Cougars will play Cedar Ridge in the District Championship on Thursday at 7:15 PM. Go, Junior Cougars!

The Izard County Jr. High Quiz Bowl team are runners up in the 2A North Jr High Regional Quiz Bowl Tournament. The Jr Cougars tallied a 5 - 1 record for the day and qualified to advance to State/Jr. Finals on Saturday, February 17. Their only loss of the day came on the last question of the game with White County Central after the Cougars had overcome a 45 pt deficit to take the lead with just a few questions remaining.

Evan Cole led the team with 7.3 toss-ups per game. Ian Bear contributed 5.3 per game, and Alex Millington averaged 3 per game, with timely contributions throughout the day from Gavin Williams and Brayden Treat. The Izard County Junior Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament with a 53-21 win over the South Side Bee Branch Junior Hornets. The top-seeded Junior Cougars (16-5) were led by Aaron Dockins with 14 points. Kade Yancey added 11, Kyler Brashear 10, and Benaiah Spray 8. The Junior Cougars will play White County Central on Monday at 7 PM in the semifinals at Cedar Ridge.

Congrats to the following ICC Betas who placed at the state competition and qualified for nationals:
Nils Pahnke (12th grade) 2nd place in French
Whitley Smith (10th grade) 4th place in Agriscience

The Izard County Cougars defeated the Quitman Bulldogs, 71-36. The Cougars (18-7 overall and 10-3 in the 2A-2 Conference) were led by Jude Everett with 21 points and Gabe Spray added 20. Cash Arnhart chipped in 10 points.
The Junior Cougars won 47-38 over the Junior Bulldogs. The Junior Cougars (15-5) were led by Kyler Brashear with 15 points. Aaron Dockins and Benaiah Spray added 10 points each for the Junior Cougars.
The Lady Cougars fell 60-34 to the Lady Bulldogs. Quinn Johnson led the Lady Cougars (17-8 overall and 8-5 in the conference) with 17 points.
The Junior Lady Cougars lost 32-25 to the Junior Lady Bulldogs. The Junior Lady Cougars (6-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference) were led by Trinity Gaskins with 13 points and Kallie Skidmore added 10 points.

We are excited to announce that Izard County High School has been chosen to receive a $30,430 Arkansas Department of Career and Technical Education 2023-2024 State Start-Up Grant for Computer Science-Robotics. Izard County High School is currently offering two of the required foundational courses for the Robotics Program and each course is focused on computer science and engineering. Future plans to expand the program include implementation of a robotics concentrator course during the 2024-25 school year followed by implementation of a robotics completer course in 2025-26. This grant provides sustainable support for our high school STEM program and its focus on increasing student opportunities to provide 21st century work-force ready skills that meet local industry needs. Special thanks to Keri McCarn and the Northcentral Arkansas Education Service Center for their assistance on this grant!

Reminder: makeup basketball games tomorrow (Monday) with Quitman at home starting at 4:30 PM. All 4 teams Jr Girls, Jr Boys, Sr Girls, Sr Boys will play and the Little Dribblers will perform. Basketball teams go to Marshall on Friday, starting at 5 PM with Jr Girls, Sr Girls, Sr Boys.

The Izard County Lady Cougars defeated the South Side Bee Branch Lady Hornets, 60-57. The Lady Cougars (17-7 overall and 8-4 in the conference) were led by Quinn Johnson with 19 points and Olivia Spray with 14. Makensie Yancey added 9 and Katie Orf 8.
The Izard County Junior Lady Cougars edged the South Side Bee Branch Junior Lady Hornets, 40-38. The Junior Lady Cougars (6-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference) were led by Kallie Skidmore with 23 points and Reese Johnson with 7 points.

The Izard County Cougars jumped out to a 36-15 halftime lead over the Mount Vernon Enola Warhawks and cruised to a 60-48 victory. The Cougars (16-7 overall and 8-3 in the conference) were led by Jude Everett with 18 points. Gabe Spray added 16 and Cash Arnhart 9.
The Mount Vernon Enola Lady Warhawks defeated the Izard County Lady Cougars, 50-41. The game was tied 35-35 after three quarters. The Lady Cougars (16-7 overall and 7-4 in the conference) were led by Makensie Yancey with 11 points, Tinley Bailey 9, and Quinn Johnson 8.
The Izard County Junior Cougars defeated the Mount Vernon Enola Junior Warhawks, 45-34, to wrap up a second consecutive conference championship. The Junior Cougars (14-5 overall and 7-0 in the conference) won their 14th straight conference game over the last two seasons. The Junior Cougars were led by Braxton McCandlis with 15 points. Kade Yancey and Benaiah Spray added 12 each.

Congrats to ICC Boys Bowling Team for this week's win over Calico Rock and Highland! Top bowlers were Xander McCandlis, Micah Olson and Evan Cagle. Top bowlers for ICC girls team were Allison Hatman, Lizzi Keyes and Faith Wisecarver.
