The Izard County School District is excited to announce it has received a $463,913 High Impact Tutoring Grant from the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. This grant will allow the district to provide additional academic support for our students and high impact tutoring has been shown to be one of the most effective interventions to accelerate student learning. This language arts and/or math tutoring will be available for eligible K-12 students during the school day through the use of licensed teachers and/or an online option. Further information on available services will be provided soon. Superintendent Fred Walker said, "This grant was written primarily by Elementary Principal Eve Hatman with assistance from Middle School Principal Sarah Burns and STEM Coordinator Courtney Selph. The district has now been awarded over $1 million this year in grants and these three individuals are responsible for most of it. I would like to thank Eve, Sarah, and Courtney and our entire staff for always going the extra mile for our students. The many grants that we consistently receive each year, the implementation of our STEM Program, and the rapid progress of our teachers in incorporating the Professional Learning Communities collaborative process show how dedicated our staff is to our students. No one works harder for their students than our staff and it shows every day in the academic progress of our students. Proud to be a Cougar."
