It is official! We are excited to announce that both our middle school and high school have been designated as State Model STEM Schools by the Arkansas Department of Education today. Both schools were recently evaluated by the ADE State Model STEM Program Committees and we have qualified to be the FIRST SCHOOL DISTRICT in the state to have all its schools designated as State Model STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Schools. Our Preschool and Elementary Schools are already designated as State Model STEM Schools, and now that we have added the middle school and high school to the program, we are a PK-12 State Model STEM School District. We also are the first and only high school in the state to be designated as a State Model STEM High School. Thanks to all the hard work of our staff, students, community, and school board. We also will be announcing more new and exciting opportunities for our students very soon! Every student. Every day. Whatever it takes.

We are excited to announce that Izard County High School has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school that is Beating the Odds, because our students have demonstrated high growth on the ATLAS English Language Arts exams even though the school serves a high percentage of students who participate in Free and Reduced Lunch! The OEP recognizes schools with high student academic growth through its Outstanding Educational Performance Awards. The Office of Educational Policy says growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that a school is having on students. Congratulations to our students and staff for this honor! Every student. Every day. Whatever it takes.
