Hollie Johnson added 3 hits, RBI, Trinity Gaskins, 3 hits, 2 runs scored, Emily Stephens, double, run scored, RBI, Makensie Yancey, double, RBI, Willow Warden, single, run scored, Katie Orf and Tinlee Bailey, run scored each. McBride got the win on the mound, going 7 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 17 strikeouts.

The AAA released the new basketball conferences for the 2024-26 school years on Friday and Izard County's 2A-2 Conference has had some changes.


The Izard County Lady Cougars fell to the Mayflower Lady Eagles, 6-4, in their third game today at the Blazer Blast. The Lady Cougars were led by Makensie Yancey with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Quinn Johnson added 2 hits and a run scored, Hollie Johnson, 1 hit and an RBI, Megan McBride, a double, 1 run scored, and Willow Warden, 1 hit, 1 run scored.

The Lady Cougars won their second game of the Valley View Blast over the host Valley View JV Lady Blazers, 9-1. The Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 2 hits including a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored, and Megan McBride, 2 hits including a double, 2 runs scored. Trinity Gaskins added a hit, a run scored, RBI, Katie Orf, 2 runs scored, Makensie Yancey, Hollie Johnson, and Emily Stephens a run scored each. McBride got her second win of the day on the mound with three hitless innings, no runs, and seven strikeouts. Johnson completed the combined no-hitter with 2 innings, 1 unearned run, and 3 Ks.

The Izard County Lady Cougars defeated the Potosi Valley Tigers, 8-0, in the opening round of the Valley View Blast! The Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 3 hits, including a double, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, and Tinlee Bailey with 3 hits, including a double, 2 runs scored. Megan McBride added a triple, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, Hollie Johnson, Katie Orf, and Trinity Gaskins, 1 hit, 1 RBI each, Willow Warden 1 hit, and Emily Stephens, 2 runs scored. McBride and Johnson combined to throw a two hit shutout with 13 Ks.

ICC softball girls will play at 11:20 this morning vs Valley View.

The girls softball game scheduled for 7:00 tonight has been postponed until tomorrow. A revised schedule will be posted this evening.

Today's Sr. High baseball game at Quitman has been postponed. This game will be rescheduled for Monday, April 22nd at Quitman.

The Junior Cougars and Junior Lady Cougars track teams competed at the PECO Relays at Pocahontas on Monday.
In junior girls, Willa Everett placed 5th in the 100, 100 hurdles, and the long jump, 6th in the 300 hurdles, and 13th in the 200.
In junior boys, Noah Alcock placed 5th in the pole vault, Aaron Dockins 10th in the 200,
and Evan Cole 21st in the 400.

The Lady Cougars defeated the Sloan Hendrix Lady Greyhounds, 7-4. The Lady Cougars were led by Willow Warden with 2 hits, 2 RBI, 1 run scored. Katie Orf added a double, RBI, 2 runs, Makensie Yancey, 1 hit, RBI, 1 run, Hollie Johnson, 1 hit, RBI, 1 run, Megan McBride, RBI, Trinity Gaskins, 2 hit, Emily Stephens 1 hit, Quinn Johnson 1 run, and Tinlee Bailey 1 run. On the mound, Megan McBride pitched the final 5 and 2/3 innings, giving up 1 hit, 2 runs, with 14 strikeouts.
